St Aubyn Light Railway
A small railway in a small garden.
The railway was started in 2008 when we moved house. The back garden in our previous house was much bigger, so the new railway was an exercise in significant downsizing. It has changed a couple of times since then, and now consists of a single-track line with return loops at each end.
It is dual gauge, to the extent that the 32mm track has had an extra rail added to the outside, to give 45mm capability over part of the line.
My previous lines have been at ground level, and suffered a little from the proximity of soil, plants and wildlife. So the latest incarnation is built on a platform made by screwing three decking boards into an inverted U-shape.
