    Invitation to 16mm Association show
The layout has been invited to the Association of 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers annual show at Peterborough, on 12 April 2014. It's the UK's biggest 16mm show and in the past has had some high-quality layouts, such as Timpdon Lake and the Indian Hill Railway.

Quite what the customers will make of Walmer Bridge I'm not sure. Best not to compare it with others and just take it on its own merits, whatever they are. However I may be able to console them with the fact that I am hoping to acquire some baseboards, complete with track, from Timpdon's creator, and start building a proper, fully-scenic layout.

    Walmer Bridge at Woodvale
Walmer Bridge has been invited to appear at the Woodvale Transport Festival on June 22nd and 23rd. It's at Victoria Park Southport, PR9 2BZ.

The Festival is a substitute for the Woodvale Rally proper, which is homeless following an asbestos problem at RAF Woodvale.

More details on the Festival are here.

    Rails at Burscough
Last Saturday saw Walmer Bridge at Rails at Burscough, the second annual event of the Merseyside Branch of the Tram and Light Railway Society. With help from fellow 16-millers Frank, Rob One and Rob Two, the layout ran well all day, with no disasters and a fair few appreciative comments, particularly from the younger generation.

New for 2013 are a couple of Mamod appliances, a traction engine and a stationary engine. The latter was fired up on this occasion using solid fuel, confirming that material's inadequacies. Next time I may risk meths when the exhibition manager's gaze is averted.

Another point of note was that the random collection of boxes used to store the scenic items does not make for easy packing away at the end of the day. Something a little more organised is called for.

    Some photos are here.

    Another show booking

Walmer Bridge has a return booking for the Corris Model Railway and Toy Exhibition. It's due to be held on the August Bank Holiday, 24th-26th Aug 2013.

It's at the Plas Centre Machynlleth, as Corris school is having the builders in over the summer holiday.
